Loop is a wooden dollhouse, it is portative and small-sized, close to a shoe box. It is a gallery without uniform dimensions and without furniture.

Dollhouse is a somehow strange space. A place for projections for fetishists (often), of an ideal world, or a place of transfer for a lack or a need to control. It can be a way to transfer a heritage. Or it can be simply a place to play. It is a theatre in which life is mimed.

It is a theatre that exhibits itself. Loop is not an invitation to mime a gallery, but to invest in it. An ideal exhibition space is not a stereotyped white cube, not a place where one puts the works on the wall or on the pedestals, but a space of attempts, space for an activity, for a relation to usage, to doing, to a certain way of living in the world.

Since some years Loop is passed on from hand to hand, receives artistic interventions, exhibitions as a game that goes by post.

Invited by Laura Kuusk to curate Loop during a year, I propose to work with a dollhouse that has become a gallery, to inhabit the space both maintaining it and discussing around it.

The artists are invited to think the world of Loop. Finally, all the proposals will tell a world, will tell the story that Loop is a subject to, a frame of, and where Loop is playing a secondary role.

Firstly, all the proposals will be visible on a blog, a final presentation will take the form that will be invented for the occasion.

Loop est une maison de poupée en bois, portative, de taille réduite, proche d'une boîte à chaussure. Une galerie sans échelles uniformes et sans mobilier.

Une maison de poupée est un espace un peu étrange. Un lieu de projection, souvent d'un monde idéal, par des personnes fétichistes, ou bien qui transfèrent là quelque chose de l'ordre d'un manque ou d'une volonté de contrôle. Cela peut-être un moyen de transmettre un patrimoine. Un espace de jeu tout simplement. C'est un théâtre au sein duquel se mime la vie.

Un théâtre qui s'expose. Loop n'est pas une invitation à mimer une galerie, mais à l'investir. Un espace idéal d'exposition n'est pas blanc et stéréotypé, n'est pas un lieu où l'on accroche au mur ou dépose sur des socles, mais un espace de tentatives, un espace qu'une activité, un rapport aux usages, au faire, au monde vient habiter.

Depuis quelques années, Loop passe de mains en mains, accueille des interventions artistiques, des expositions comme un jeu que l'on s'enverrait par la poste.

Invitée par Laura Kuusk à prendre en charge le commissariat de Loop pendant une année, je propose de travailler à partir de la maison de poupée devenue galerie, de l'habiter dans les deux sens du terme entretenir.

Les artistes sont invités à penser le monde de Loop. Finalement, l'ensemble des propositions penserait un monde, raconterait une histoire dont Loop est le support, le sujet, le cadre, un personnage secondaire.

Les propositions seront visibles dans un premier temps par le biais d'un blog, puis l'ensemble sera ressaisi au bout d'une année dans la forme qui sera inventée pour l'occasion.
